Bren Ten Magazine floor plate comparisons
- The original magazines for the Bren Ten were dual caliber 45ACP & 10mm Auto.
- Manufactured by MEC-GAR of Italy and delivered to Huntington Beach in early 1984.
- Along with feed issues that were unsurmountable, the magazines were not heat treated by MEC-GAR and after around 400 rounds of Norma 10mm Auto, the magazine tubes would warp and become unusable. Dornaus & Dixon Enterprises refused payment to MEC-GAR. This initiated a re-design of the magazine.
- These magazines do not have the pins (See picture above)
The redesigned magazine addressed a number of issues in addition to the feeding and durability problems.
- The magazines were shipped to Dornaus & Dixon Enterprises unassembled
- The magazine tubes were heat treated to eliminate the warping issues
- The original Bren Ten receiver castings were too short in the grip frame area due to a vendor error. This created a loose fit of the magazine which could result in the magazine dropping due to recoil.
-- Two pins were added to the magazines (See picture above). Originally intended to be a temporary measure until the short castings were consumed, however this never happened due to the demise of Dornaus & Dixon Enterprises. All 10mm magazines have these pins.
